Preserving the Land
Useful by-products that leave nothing to waste
Every ounce of Florida’s Natural citrus is beneficial. We continue to develop ways to recycle our products with as little impact on the environment as possible. In our efforts to maintain zero waste, we've found the orange to be quite a versatile fruit.
- Citrus is a significant part of slushes, marmalades, molasses, syrup, candies, and jellied products.
- Oils, refined from the remaining pulp and peel, are a base for food flavorings, soaps, alcohol, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, rubber, textiles, confectionaries, and ice cream.
- Tons of peel, pulp, and seeds are also converted into feed for cattle. Dried citrus pulp, which was introduced in 1925, is an excellent food for milk cows.
